The Importance Of Breathing Correctly

November 19, 2019 By Leave a Comment Contributor Filed Under: Healing

breathe

There are some things in life that we do automatically. We don’t think about it; we do it. Breathing is just like that. We inhale and exhale. You aren’t aware of that until you start to think about it or until something disturbs this process. You probably didn’t know that you could be doing this wrong. But you probably are. It’s so easy to do this incorrectly. But you need to think about this carefully.

To do this thing correctly, you have to do it step by step. You can’t do it all at once. There are specific techniques you have to learn. Then, it will turn into a simple habit. You won’t even realize you’re doing it. Breathing wrong can be a result of many factors. It could be because of smoking, lousy posture, tense muscle, or problems with your diaphragm. You can find out how to this correctly on the following link https://www.besthealthmag.ca/best-you/wellness/are-you-breathing-the-right-way/.

How to do it properly?

Most people, you know, probably do it wrong. It’s called chest breathing. It means that you take shallow breaths. What you don’t know is that this way, the air never touches your lungs. If you want to do it properly, you have to use your nose and diaphragm. You inhale with them. You exhale through the nose. If you didn’t know, the nose is an essential part of this procedure. It helps filter out the air. The mouth can’t do it.

You may be grossed out to learn this, but inside the nose, there are tiny hairs. They are doing important stuff. They capture harmful bacteria and viruses to prevent them enter your system. It is the reason you sneeze so much. Your body is protecting itself. It’s telling you that there are bacteria nearby. The mouth can’t do all of this. Thus, you are risking many things when you use your mouth.

Why is the diaphragm so important?

Many people forget to use this muscle. It’s quite reasonable. But if you didn’t know, the sole purpose of this muscle is to help you breathe. It’s an essential part of the procedure. For more information, check out this article. When you use it, the air travels to your lungs. You may notice your stomach expanding. When you exhale, your stomach will become flat. You have to remember to empty your lungs. You have to learn how to take a deep breath with your diaphragm.

Train yourself to do it correctly

It may sound silly. You have to learn how to breathe correctly. But you have to do it. There is something you could try out. First, you have to lie down. Look for a flat surface, like a couch, bed, or even the floor. After you do that, you should relax. Put your hand on your chest. The other side is supposed to be on your stomach. That way, you will feel everything. You will know if you’re doing something wrong.

Try breathing through your nose for some time. You have to allow your stomach to expand. But remember not to move your chest. You have to be able to control yourself. Then, you can exhale through the nose. You will feel your stomach getting back to its flat state. You also have to remember to keep your hand still. Your chest shouldn’t be moving that much. There are many health benefits. Read about them here. If it moved, you have a weak diaphragm. So, you will have to do some additional exercises to make the muscle stronger.

Other things you can try out

If you want to improve, you have to exercise regularly. It sounds so silly. But there are so many health benefits if you breathe properly. If you’re going to do something else, try yoga. You probably aren’t aware of how good this would do to you. It will help you with your breathing techniques. Yoga and meditation teach you how to become more aware of your body’s movements. Also, it strengthens your muscles. So, it’s beneficial. You have to try this out. Regular exercise strengthens your body and mind.
