Linda Speranza Shares Ways to Increase Positive Thinking and Positive Energy

Positive thinking and positive energy are must-haves in today’s challenging world. The stress and pressures of modern life can cause a great deal of heartache and confusion. It can be challenging to master the art of positive thinking. When people turn their minds to what is good, they are better able to overcome the problems that everyone faces each day. Linda Speranza, an educator and fitness enthusiast, explains the ways that everyone can boost their positive thinking skills and gain more positive energy.

1. Meditate

When people begin a regular meditation practice, they are far more likely to feel relaxed and at peace. Starting to meditate can cause people a great deal of stress, but the important thing is not pushing oneself.

If you begin to meditate and can’t turn off your thoughts, you may feel like you are doing it wrong, and you will be discouraged from trying again. It may be better to adopt an attitude of mindfulness during meditation. Mindfulness means accepting each thought as it comes into the mind and having a calm attitude toward the challenges that may arise. Mindfulness meditation can help anyone feel more positive toward life.

2. Exercise

Regular exercise has many benefits for the mind. In addition to its well-known benefits for the body, regular exercise boosts mental health and positive thinking. Exercise raises the level of brain chemicals known as endorphins. These beneficial chemicals help to enhance mood and help a person overcome challenges.

3. Focus on the Good

This can be difficult for many people, but it helps to focus your mental energy on the good things that are happening in your life. This may seem like hackneyed advice, but a simple emphasis on positive changes can help people feel better. It may help to keep a gratitude journal where you can write down the positive things that happen each day. While focusing on the good can’t always help with documented mental illnesses like anxiety and depression, it can help most people to feel more balanced and happier with themselves.

4. Let Go of Perfectionism

Many people put themselves under a great deal of pressure to be perfect. They may run themselves down in their minds, blaming themselves if anything negative happens to them. It is better to relax and take some of the angst out of life.

For example, if you find that you can’t keep your house perfectly clean while you are working a demanding full-time job, it is okay to lower your standards for the house. It is also okay to delegate tasks at work so that you will feel less stress and pressure. Having a balanced attitude can lead to positive energy.

5. Be Creative

Creative activities like art, music, and hobbies can help people feel more relaxed and balanced. Any way that you can express yourself will benefit your positive thinking. Sharing your gifts with your friends, family, and the community at large will help you feel better about yourself.

6. Bond with your Family and Friends

Modern life can be lonely. When you are with your family, put the phones and screens away and spend time having in-depth talks about life. You can also simply relax together. If you don’t have strong social connections, consider finding like-minded people at a church, exercise class, or hobby club. It is possible to connect with people online and to do fun activities with them in person. A book club, knitting club, or group exercise class can help boost your mood.

7. Get Outdoors

Fresh air and sunlight can help people feel more balanced and at peace. You don’t have to go deep into the wilderness to experience these benefits. A simple walk around the neighborhood or sitting outside with your coffee in the morning can help you feel better.

8. Seek Professional Help

It may be that none of these simple lifestyle changes make you feel more positive. You may have a treatable mood disorder that will respond to therapy, medication, or a combination of these. If you have felt depressed or anxious for more than two weeks and if it is interfering with your work, sleep, and with your relationships with family and friends, it is essential to be evaluated by your primary care doctor or mental health professional.

Linda Speranza encourages everyone to take a close look at their daily routines and at their attitude toward life’s challenges. When you make small but measurable changes, you may find that your capacity for positive thinking is greatly increased.
